Tuition fees for the programme can be found on the Portsmouth SCITT website. For the year commencing September 2026, these are £9535. Most applicants are eligible to apply for student finance to cover the tuition fee, and many can also access a maintenance loan to support living costs. Some trainees choose to work part-time, but we do not recommend it. Initial teacher training is full time, and the workload can be demanding, especially during placements. If you are planning to work alongside the course, please talk to us before you begin so we can help you make an informed decision.

Yes. If you are paying your tuition fees privately, you can split the payment into two instalments: 50 percent in October and 50 percent in February. Please contact us if you need to discuss this option.
