Applying to train with Portsmouth SCITT and Tes Institute

Our partnership with Tes Institute enables Portsmouth SCITT to offer a wide range of secondary initial teacher training courses from September 2027, with QTS only and QTS with PGCE routes available.

Our courses are currently listed under Portsmouth Secondary SCITT (P83). Tes Institute is the accredited provider, while Portsmouth SCITT is your local lead partner, responsible for recruitment, school placements, face-to-face training, mentoring and ongoing support throughout the year.

Subject-specific training is delivered online alongside trainees from across the country. Professional studies and Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP) are delivered locally by Portsmouth SCITT, at our established training base at Stamshaw Junior School and within our secondary partner schools.

If you would like to train at a school that is not listed for your subject, please contact us before applying. We will explore what may be possible, but cannot guarantee an alternative placement or your preferred school.
