Isle of Wight Hub
Portsmouth SCITT is proud to continue offering our outstanding initial teacher training on the Isle of Wight for 2026/27. Working in partnership with a growing network of high-quality Island schools, we provide a hands-on, research-informed training experience rooted in strong mentoring, expert guidance and personalised support. Training sessions take place both in our dedicated Isle of Wight training space at Dover Park Primary school in Ryde, ensuring a connected and community-centred programme.
Now entering our second year on the Island, this established provision offers residents the opportunity to gain a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status without the need for regular travel to the mainland. The programme mirrors the structure of our highly regarded Portsmouth pathway and is delivered by a blend of our experienced Portsmouth SCITT team and expert colleagues from across the Island.
We are proud of our small cohort sizes, our commitment to trainee wellbeing and our high-quality mentoring – all of which ensure every trainee receives tailored support. Our course is suitable for all graduates: whether you are new to working with children, or already employed in a school and ready to take the next step into teaching, you will be well supported throughout your training year.
Teaching is a deeply fulfilling profession that allows you to make a significant difference to the lives of children on the Isle of Wight. With a competitive starting salary of £32,916 and clear pathways for career progression, it offers long-term opportunities as well as daily reward. We look forward to welcoming our 2026/27 cohort and to continuing our work with Island schools to strengthen and grow the future teacher workforce.
